Tennessee Parenting Plan – A guide to new legal options

Tennessee Parenting Plan Updates as of July 1, 2019

On July 1, 2019 a major new change was added for Tennessee parents.  This change applies to juvenile court parents and divorcing parents. It also applies parents that are already divorced. Remember, you can modify your parenting plan!

First, there is an option for JOINT primary residential parents (PRP) that can now be agreed upon.  This is a great option for parents with 50/50 parenting time in Tennessee. Secondly, the designation of a primary residential can now be waived by the parents.  However, the Parenting Plan form has not yet been changed to reflect this new law.  But, you can modify or add the language to the form.

Additionally, a family law attorney or a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 Listed Mediator can help you with the form. Lastly, to download a free copy of the form, CLICK HERE. It is available in Word, PDF and a fillable version. Finally, it is available in multiple languages, including Spanish, Korean and Vietnamese.

Review of your new options for the Tennessee Parenting Plan, PLUS a change to school choice.
